Calculation of the CCCB's Carbon Footprint
Greenhouse gas inventory, evolution in recent years and savings proposals
Motivation
The Center for Contemporary Culture of Barcelona (CCCB) has commissioned a GHG emissions inventory that includes not only direct emissions from its energy consumption, but also indirect emissions from mobility and part of its programming. This is a further step in the CCCB’s strategy to reduce its emissions, following its adhesion to the Voluntary Agreement Program in 2022, the commitment to supply electricity from renewable sources from 2020, and the incorporation of environmental clauses in bids for services and product purchases, among others.
Results
The inventory conforms to the requirements of ISO 14064-1:2019, on which the Voluntary Agreements Program of the Catalan Climate Change Office is based. The scope of the inventory includes GHG emissions derived from the activity in the facilities where the CCCB has operational control – located in the Casa de la Caritat buildings and the Theater building – during the years 2019 , 2020, 2021 and 2022. In addition, the inventory has made it possible to identify the main actions that could be carried out to increase GHG emission reductions, facilitating the recognition of areas for improvement in data collection processes.
